Talk story about actor George Rose, now appearing in "The Mystery of Edwin Drood," a musical version of Charles Dickens' unfinished novel... It is this play-within-a-play that provides the framework for one of Broadway's most unpredictable shows. "What makes this show unique is that it involves the audience to such an extent that it could not be reproduced in any other medium. Since Dickens died before he could tell us what happened to Edwain Drood, we have 15 possible endings, and we ask the audience to determine the outcome by 3 votes. They select the murderer, they select the character who will play the disguised detective, & they match up a pair of lovers... Very often, people become disconcerted by such direct contact, but they usually warm up by the opium den scene."
