Talk story about a chat with Dr. Thomas Dailey, a mountain-climbing surgeon who lives in Manhattan and is assembling a medical kit for a 2 1/2 week trek through the Tibetan plateau in China. Their group was organized by Mountain Travel Nepal, which has four trekking permits issued by the Chinese government. Tells about the route they will follow. Their main project is to circumnavigate Mount Siguniang, a twenty-two-thousand foot mountain. Tells about possible medical problems and what the doctor will take along to deal with them, and also how he will tackle them. Also tells about some of the emergencies he's dealt with in the past.
